Summertime...And The Living Is Easy

We figured it was time for an update from the Hameister-Ries household.  June has been a good month for us newlyweds.  I finally got to watch Jon play in a game again!!!  The BC Lions played their first home pre-season game at the outdoor Empire Stadium!  The weather was great, the competition was good and most importantly Jon played an awesome game!  :)  I sat in the stands with a few friends and we had a blast!  Here are a few pics from the game.

We are so excited now that the season is underway and can't wait for more home games!  Go Lions!!!

This month was also a good one for me at work.  The summer season is super busy in the wedding and event industry so they asked me to start working in the office more often and on a more regular basis!  I'm so pumped and feel blessed to have the opportunity to do something I truly enjoy!

So, other than football and wedding/event stuff that's about all that's going on with us!  We have enjoyed hanging out with our friends and getting to see more of Vancouver all the time!  We even found a tasty Mexican food restaurant....so I guess we can stay in Vancouver for while now!  ;)

Jon & Jonesy...what a pair  :)

Us at The Roxy after the first home game!  (I'm so pasty...can you tell I don't live in Texas anymore?!) LOL

At Las Margaritas (my new fav restaurant)  Someone told the waitress it was Jon's birthday...nice sombrero!

Spring Happenings...

Well I have already started slacking on the blogging...my apologies.  Jon and I have been busy busy this Spring with gearing up for training camp, me getting a part-time job, celebrating 2 months of marriage (yay...we made it 2 months..LOL) and a fun little road trip to Seattle to take in the Mariners/Blue Jays baseball game.  We are still LOVING Vancouver and are looking forward to many more adventures to come.  :)

So, a few weeks ago we headed down to Seattle to take in the ballgame.  Jon grew up a Toronto Blue Jays fan so he jumped at the opportunity to catch the game when one of his friends scored some free tickets!  Jon and I and a few of his teammates loaded up in the Pilot and headed South of the border.  We stopped along the way to do some FABULOUS outlet mall shopping...surprisingly, Jon got more things than I did.

After a few hours at the outlets we headed to Safeco Field.  The field was beautiful and I've included a few pictures.  They had the roof off at first but then, due to rain, they decided to wheel it back over the field.  We had a great time watching the game, drinking a few beers, and enjoying our great seats!  :)

Go Blue Jays?  (Jon had an extra hat...and I guess this is what supportive wives do for their husbands!?)

Oh silly boys.  They were having a good time!

Jon and I recently celebrated our 2 month wedding anniversary! (I'm pretty sure Jon thinks it's cheesy, but I thought it was cause to celebrate!)  Haha.  It just so happens that May 27th was the day that Sex & The City 2 came out in theaters.  I BEGGED Jon to take me...and because he loves me so much he agreed.  :)  We went to an afternoon movie and then headed to dinner at Coast (a delicious seafood restaurant) that evening.  It was a wonderful day and it reminded me how lucky I am to be married to such a great guy.  Here's a pic from the restaurant.  (Of course Jon had the 28 ounce steak...they brought it out on a special tray because it was so big.)  LOL

About a week ago Jon headed off to Kamloops (4 hours from Vancouver) for BC Lions Training Camp 2010.  We are very excited and anxious for the upcoming season!  I cant wait to watch Jon play football again...it's one of my favorite things to do! :)  However, I was not looking forward to being left alone for over 2 weeks in the apartment while he was at camp.  Luckily I found a part time job with a wedding & event planning company!  It's perfect because the office is downtown and not even a 5 minute drive from the apartment!  I am having so much fun working on these events and the timing could not have been more perfect!  So, while Jon is away practicing, sweating, sitting through football meetings, and generally hating camp...I get to help set up decor for weddings, graduation parties, bar mitzvahs, etc.  Too fun!

We are finally settling in and making Vancouver our home, and we feel truly blessed.  Looking forward to the 2010 CFL season starting (Go Lions!) and the upcoming visit of family from Texas in July!  :)
